Why Now is a Good Time to Sell Your Home
Mortgage interest rates are projected to rise this spring. According to this recent Forbes Advisor article,
“The consumer price index (CPI), which indicates the rate of inflation by looking at the cost of consumer goods and services, rose 6.8% for the previous 12-months ending in November, the highest jump for a one-year period since June 1982.” (read full article here)
This affects people looking to sell their homes because the amount of buyers looking for homes will decrease, and sellers will also have to carefully calculate the selling price in order to get a good deal. With higher interest rates, buyers could have smaller budgets for homes, which would have to be considered when looking at how to list a home.
Of course any market there are variations. When you work with me as your real estate agent, we will do a comparative market analysis to decide on the best price for your home, and also look at your wants and needs as a seller.
If you are looking to sell your home this year, I would advise doing so now before interest rates go up too high. This gives you more exposure to more buyers with bigger budgets. And should make it easier to sell.
